The 2012 Caulfield Cup is due to run at Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday October 20, 2012, and betting odds have now been released for the race.

bookmaker.com.au has placed Green Moon as the favourite to win the 2012 Caulfield Cup, with the six-year-old currently paying $14.

Final Field Of 22 Announced For 2013 Caulfield Cup

The final field has been taken for the Group 1 Caulfield Cup, which will take place at Caulfield Racecourse this Saturday October 19, 2013.

A total of 22 horses paid the final acceptance fee to run in the 2013 Caulfield Cup this weekend.

Mr O’Ceirin has won 10 of his 27 race starts and has earned more than $440,000 in prize money during his horse racing career.

The six-year-old has had a turbulent campaign, which has seen him produce both impressive and disappointing runs.

The Postponed gelding won the Group 3 Naturalism Stakes two starts back before placing 10th of 16 runners in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes on October 5, 2013.

Mr O’Ceirin, who is trained by Ciaron Maher at Caulfield, will look to reclaim his winning form when he runs in the 2013 Caulfield Cup.

Also included in the 2013 Caulfield Cup final field is Royal Descent.

Royal Descent has won four of her 11 race starts and has earned more than $637,000 in prize money during her career.

2014 Caulfield Cup Third Declarations & Odds

Worth a record $3 million in prizemoney this year, the Group 1 Crown Golden Ale Caulfield Cup (2400m) is shaping up as a crack showdown between a host of local and international stayers with seven raiders still in the mix.

The shortest priced of the international Caulfield Cup horses in the latest Caulfield Cup odds at Ladbrokes.com.au is Japanese raider Bande paying $7.50.

Japan will be dually represented in this year’s Caulfield Cup field too with Admire Rakti ($15) also set to make his Australian debut in the race, the pair heading towards the $6.2 million Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington on the first Tuesday of November.

Other notable international Caulfield Cup third acceptors include Group 1 performed UK mare My Ambivalent ($11) who will get in at a nice weight and the Marco Botti-trained Dandino ($15).

Dandino was runner-up behind Fawkner in last year’s Caulfield Cup and also finished fifth to Fiorente in the Melbourne Cup last spring so the bookies are keeping him safe in betting again in 2014.

The all-in Caulfield Cup odds at Ladbrokes meanwhile are led by Lucia Valentina ($5.50) out to become the first mare to win since Southern Speed in 2011.

His best fancied is Who Shot Thebarman at $11 who won the Group 3 The Bart Cummings in Melbourne over the weekend and has winning form over the two miles being an Auckland Cup winner back in New Zealand.

Also in the mix for Waller are the likes of Junoob and Opinion who ran one-two in the Group 1 The Metropolitan (2400m) over the same distance at Randwick on the weekend.

His other Group 1 Sydney winner form last Saturday, Epsom Handicap champ He’s Your Man meanwhile is a $41 Caulfield Cup chance but dropped out of Melbourne Cup contention with first acceptances for the world’s richest handicap also closing today.

Also paying $11 along with Who Shot Thebarman is Dear Demi for Clarry Conners, the mare finishing a close third in the Caulfield Cup last spring before her second in the Mackinnon during the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Other notable Caulfield Cup third acceptors include ATC Oaks winning New Zealand mare Rising Romance, Gai Waterhouse’s Sydney Cup champ The Offer who is favourite for the Melbourne Cup next month, Marco Botti’s other hopeful Seismos coming off a Geoffrey Freer Stakes win at Newbury, John Sargent’s Crown Oaks winner Kirramosa and light weight chance Stipulate.

A capacity field of 18 starters plus four emergencies has been accepted for Saturday’s Caulfield Cup 2014 field at Caulfield Racecourse.

The $3 million Group 1 Crown Golden Ale Caulfield Cup (2400m) is the richest handicap over that distance in the world and this year features four international raiders.

Leading the Caulfield Cup field and weights is one of those, the Japanese-trained Admire Rakti to be ridden by Zac Purton on 58kg.

The Heart’s Cry seven-year-old is out to improve on a distant 13th last time out in the Group 1 Tenno Sho (3200m) and hasn’t won a race since the Group 3 Diamond Stakes (3419m) at Tokyo in February last year.

Japan is dually represented in the Caulfield Cup field this year too, the first time since 2006 the country has had a runner in the race, with Bande carrying 56.5kg with French hoop Christophe Lemaire riding.

Yoshito Yahagi’s Authorized stallion is one of the best backed in Caulfield Cup betting at Ladbrokes.com.au after an all-the-way five length victory in a black-type back home over 2600m in early August.

The other two internationals in the mix are then the Marco Botti-trained stable mates Dandino (57kg) and Seismos (56kg).

Craig Williams’ mount Dandino was narrow runner-up to Fawkner in the race last year and returns in 2014 on the back of a fourth to Prince Bishop in the Group 3 September Stakes (2400m) last month.

Seismos meanwhile debuts down under on the weekend, the Dalakhani seven-year-old coming off a narrow win in the Group 3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes (2700m) from August 16.

Last year’s winning trainer Robert Hickmott and owner Lloyd Williams meanwhile will go for back-to-back Caulfield Cups with Green Moon and Sea Moon both making the cut.

Winner of the 2012 Melbourne Cup, Green Moon kicked off his season when sixth in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on September 13 but lost credibility when a distant 15th in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) back at the track at the start of the month.

Sea Moon meanwhile ran fifth last start in just his second run since a 13th to Fiorente in last year’s Melbourne Cup, beaten just over three and a half lengths in the Group 3 The Bart Cummings (2520m) on October 4.

The last start conquerors of both of Hickmott’s 2014 Caulfield Cup hopes are also backing up on Saturday.

Turnbull Stakes winning mare Lucia Valentina is the clear $4.80 favourite in the updated Caulfield Cup odds at Ladbrokes.com.au as she looks to become the first to complete the Turnbull Stakes – Caulfield Cup double since Elvstroem (2004) a decade ago.

The Bart Cummings winner Who Shot Thebarman then will be ridden by Glen Boss for the third time on the trot, the Yamanin Vital six-year-old after his third straight win.

The Group 1 winning New Zealand import is also one of four in the mix for Sydney’s premier trainer Chris Waller.

Waller shoots for his maiden Caulfield Cup success this year and has also accepted for The Metropolitan winner Junoob, Craven Plate champ Moriarty and former Queensland Derby winner Hawkspur.

Some of the other big name Caulfield Cup acceptors then include Gai Waterhouse’s Sydney Cup winner The Offer who holds favouritism for the 2014 Melbourne Cup next month, ATC Oaks winner Rising Romance and last weekend’s Herbert Power Stakes champ Big Memory on the short back-up and getting in on the 52kg minimum.

Gates for the capacity field for this Saturday’s $3 million Group 1 Crown Golden Ale Caulfield Cup (2400m) were released yesterday afternoon, the Kris Lees-trained Lucia Valentina coming up with barrier 12.

While gate 12 hasn’t produced a Caulfield Cup winner in the past 31 years, the four-year-old Savabeel mare will come into barrier 10 if the four emergencies come out which is the barrier that produced last year’s champ Fawkner.

Coming off a win in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on October 4, a race Fawkner ran third in last spring before his Caulfield Cup victory, Lucia Valentina has come in from $4.80 to $4.60 in the latest markets at Ladbrokes.com.au.

As it was pre-Caulfield Cup barrier draw just one other runner is at single figure odds to win Saturday’s classic with Japanese raider Bande in from $9 to $8.50.

He has drawn last year’s winning gate 10 and will come into nine if the final emergency fails to gain a run.

Barrier nine is the most successful starting position in recent history too producing five Caulfield Cup winners since 1983.

Bande will have French jockey Christophe Lemaire in the saddle on Saturday, the jockey having won the 2011 Melbourne Cup aboard Dunaden.

Like Saturday’s top fancy, five-year-old Bande also won his lead-up race when leading all the way for an explosive five length effort over 2600m in Japan in early August.

Occupying the third line of Caulfield Cup betting at $10, in from $11, is then the other horse representing Japan – 58kg top weight Admire Rakti.

The Heart’s Cry stallion is looking to become just the second seven-year-old Caulfield Cup winner since 1983, the last being Dunaden (2012) who was also the most recent international galloper to take out the race.

Admire Rakti beat Bande home by one when they finished second and third in the Group 2 Hansh Daishoten (3000m) behind Gold Ship in March but was disappointing with 58kg last start when 13th over the mile and a half on May 4.

The next best in betting are then Chris Waller’s The Metropolitan winner Junoob ($14), last year’s runner-up Dandino ($15) and ATC Oaks winning mare Rising Romance ($15).

Junoob is one of four hopes for Sydney’s top trainer Waller who is yet to prepare a Caulfield Cup winner and is looking to become the third The Metropolitan winner in recent years to back-up and win the first leg of the major spring cups double joining Tawqueet (2006) and Railings (2005).

Dandino meanwhile was second to Fawkner in the race last year and is out to go one better in 2014 despite carrying the second top weight of 57kg and drawing wide with the outside barrier.

Barrier 18 however last produced a winner only two years ago with Duanden (2012) and Dandino will have Craig Williams aboard – Williams having won aboard both Dunaden (2012) and the year before will Southern Speed (2011).

Rising Romance meanwhile comes off a second to another of Waller’s Caulfield Cup hopes Moriarty in the Group 3 Craven Plate (2000m), the Ekraar mare one of only two four-year-olds in the race this year.

Four-year-olds easily boast the best Caulfield Cup record since 1983 with 16 winners and the other of that age group this weekend is the favourite Lucia Valentina.

Jameka Tops Early 2016 Caulfield Cup Odds

Ciaron Maher’s Group 1 winning mare Jameka is the early favourite in futures Caulfield Cup 2016 odds for the staying classic run on Saturday October 15.

Saturday week’s $3 million Group 1 BMW Caulfield Cup (2400m) underwent third acceptances this week with 30 horses still in the mix for the mile and a half feature.

Four-year-old Myboycharlie mare Jameka sits second on the updated Caulfield Cup ballot and leads the all-in Caulfield Cup betting odds at Ladbrokes.com.au.

She pays $3.60 to join Southern Speed (2011) as the only Caulfield Cup winning mares since Ethereal (2001).

Winner of the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) as a three-year-old last Melbourne Cup Carnival, Jameka won the Group 3 Naturalism Stakes (2000m) two back at Caulfield before her second to runaway winner Hartnell in last Sunday’s Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m).

Hartnell is the second best fancied of the 2016 Caulfield Cup third acceptances in the latest Caulfield Cup odds paying $4.40.

Firm plans to run in the Caulfield Cup field are yet to be confirmed by trainer John O’Shea, but after blitzing the Turnbull Stakes last time out the bookmakers are taking no chances with the flying Authorized six-year-old.

Just one other hopeful sits under $10 in the Caulfield Cup markets with the best fancied of the remaining international raiders is the Charlie Appleby-trained Scottish from the UK.

The son of Teofilo is at $9 in the pre-field Caulfield Cup 2016 odds after a last start Group 3 win at York over 1811m on August 20.

He has had two runs over the Caulfield Cup distance for two seconds and will be out to join the likes of Japan’s Admire Rakti (2014) and the French raider Dunaden (2012) as the latest Caulfield Cup winning internationals.

Last year New Zealand Mongolian Khan ($4 in 2015) was the last favourite to salute for the Caulfield Cup punters.

Before him the other three latest champs saluted at a double-figure starting price in the Caulfield Cup odds.

This year the best fancied of the double-figure hopes in the futures markets are the Lee & Anthony Freedman-trained import Exosphere ($11), Darren Weir’s last start Group 3 JRA Cup (2040m) winning mare Real Love ($11) and Tally ($13) who ran a surprise third to his stablemate in the Turnbull Stakes last weekend.

Also high up the latest Caulfield Cup odds include the likes of the Andreas Wohler-trained German raider Articus and fellow international Sir Isaac Newton for Ireland’s Aidan O’Brien at $15 each.

A full field of stayers is engaged to face off in the Caulfield Cup 2016 this weekend in Melbourne kicking off the first of the big three spring majors.

Due to run as Caulfield Race 8 on Saturday, this year’s $3 million Group 1 BMW Caulfield Cup (2400m) has attracted a capacity 18 starters plus two emergencies awaiting a run in the world’s richest mile and a half handicap.

The official 2016 Caulfield Cup barrier draw is set to take place later on Tuesday afternoon and will further impact the latest Caulfield Cup odds at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Currently those post-field Caulfield Cup betting markets have the Ciaron Maher-trained Jameka ($3.40) as the firm favourite.

The four-year-old Myboycharlie mare has Nicholas Hall booked for the ride, Hall after his second Caulfield Cup winning ride after success aboard Fawkner (2013) three years ago.

Jameka won the Group 3 Naturalism Stakes (2000m) at the Caulfield track two back and was penalised 0.5kg for the win.

She still sits well in the Caulfield Cup weights with just 52.5kg and was last seen running second to Hartnell at Flemington in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m).

Fakwner (3rd in 2013) was the last Turnbull Stakes graduate to back-up and win the Caulfield Cup next start.

Maher has a total of three runners in this year’s Caulfield Cup field also accepting for light-weights Set Square (52kg) and Pemberley (50.5kg).

Pemberley was tested over the track / distance just last Saturday and caught the eye in a blanket finish in the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) crossing just a quarter length back for third.

The winner Assign isn’t in the Caulfield Cup 2016 field, but runner-up Big Memory backs-up and drops from 53kg to 51.5kg with Chris Parnham in the saddle.

Heading this year’s Caulfield Cup weights with 57kg is the Chris Waller-trained Preferment last seen running fourth in the Turnbull Stakes.

The five-year-old Zabeel stallion is after his first win since the Group 1 The BMW (2400m) in Sydney back in late March and pays $26 in the latest Caulfield Cup odds.

Along with Jameka there are just three other single figure fancies in the Caulfield Cup markets including Real Love ($8) who is another mare looking to beat home the boys in the race for the first time since Southern Speed (2011).

Desert King six-year-old Real Love is a former Perth Cup winner over the distance and was last seen winning the Group 3 JRA Cup (2040m) at Moonee Valley on September 30.

The other single-figure hopes are the Charlie Appleby-trained English raider Scottish ($8.50) who has Kerrin McEvoy riding and fellow international Articus ($8.50) who Zac Purton rides.

McEvoy (2008 – All The Good) and Purton (2014 – Admire Rakti) both chase their second Caulfield Cup winning ride.

Four-time Caulfield Cup winning jockey Damien Oliver meanwhile rode his last champion back in 1999 with Sky Heights and is looking for a fifth win this weekend aboard Exospheric for Lee & Anthony Freedman.

The import debuts down under in the Caulfield Cup and is joined in the field by stablemate Our Ivanhowe who ran third to Mongolian Khan (2015) in the race last year.

2016 Caulfield Cup Barriers & Betting Update

The Caulfield Cup 2016 barrier draw has seen an update to the Caulfield Cup odds for the $3 million mile-and-a-half showdown in Melbourne running this Saturday, October 15, as the first of the ‘Big 3’ spring majors.

Running as Caulfield Race 8 at 4:30pm (AEDT), this year’s $3 million Group 1 BMW Caulfield Cup (2400m) features a full field and barriers were drawn for all 20 final acceptors on Tuesday afternoon.

Heading the Caulfield Cup odds at $3.50 is the Ciaron Maher-trained Jameka.

The four-year-old Myboycharlie mare has eased out slightly in the post-barrier Caulfield Cup betting markets (from $3.20) after drawing barrier 13.

Jockey Nicholas Hall retains the ride on the recent Naturalism Stakes winner having ridden her to victory in that Caulfield lead-up as well as her brave second to Hartnell in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) last start.

Hall chases his second Caulfield Cup win having guided Fawkner (2013) to victory three years ago, with the last Caulfield Cup winner to salute from barrier 13 being Viewed in 2009.

Maher’s two other runners in this year’s 18-starter Caulfield Cup field suffered wide draws with Set Square to jump from the far outside barrier, while last Saturday’s Herbert Power Stakes third placegetter Pemberley drew barrier 17.

It was only four years ago a horse overcame the outside Caulfield Cup barrier (18) to win when the French raider Dunaden got the job done with Craig Williams in the saddle.

Williams also rode Southern Speed to victory from barrier 3 (of 18) the year before (2011), the mare the last female to beat home the boys in a Caulfield Cup result.

This Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival Williams returns chasing a third Caulfield Cup success booked to ride the Darren Weir-trained JRA Cup winning mare Real Love.

A former Perth Cup winner over the Caulfield Cup distance (2400m), Real Love pays $8 in the latest Caulfield Cup odds after drawing barrier 10.

Occupying the second line of Caulfield Cup betting after the release of Caulfield Cup barriers backed in from $8 to $7.50 is the Charlie Appleby-trained British raider Scottish for the Godolphin team.

Scottish has had two runs over 2400m for two seconds and has Kerrin McEvoy aboard for his down under debut this weekend from an ideal barrier seven draw.

Barrier 7 has produced four Caulfield Cup winners (since 1983), most recently Admire Rakti (2014).

The most successful Caulfield Cup barrier in that time with five winners is barrier nine, drawn this year by fellow international raider Sir Isaac Newton.

Prepared by Ireland’s Aidan O’Brien, Sir Isaac Newton has Irish hoop Colm O’Donoghue riding this weekend and has been backed in from $13 to $11 in the Caulfield Cup odds.

Also at single figures in the markets at $8.50 and firming is German visitor Articus from the stables of Melbourne Cup winning trainer Andreas Wohler.

Other key Caulfield Cup barriers include Our Ivanhowe (6) who is at $26 to go two better than his third in the race last year, his imported stablemate Exospheric (3) paying a shorter $10 to give co-trainer Lee Freedman his fifth Caulfield Cup and the Group 1 The Metropolitan winner over the distance in Sydney last start Sir John Hawkwood (5) at $16 (in from $19).
