Caulfield Cup Tips

There are just 11 days to go before the 2010 Caulfield Cup jumps at Caulfield Racecourse. Now is the time to make your preparations, including taking advantage of early Caulfield Cup odds for a shot at massive payouts. Though, before you put your money down on the upcoming Group 1 feature, here are a few helpful Caulfield Cup tips that are definitely worth keeping in mind when you place your bets.

#1: The First Of Our Caulfield Cup Tips Is To Do A Little Research.

There is no better way to gauge a horse’s performance in a future race than to look into how they have performed in the past at similar distances, at the same track, under the same conditions, and/or with the same jockey.

This year’s Caulfield Cup favourite is currently the Bart Cummings-trained Precedence. He is listed at $8.00 odds at Sportsbet. The four-year-old bay gelding is coming into the Caulfield Cup off of a big win in the Group 2 JRA Cup. At 2040 metres, it is a similar distance to the 2400 metre Caulfield Cup. In addition, this son of Zabeel has recently performed well at Caulfield, running second to Jungle Ruler on the track in late August.  All of this makes this horse a smart choice when putting your money down.

To help you pick your Caulfield Cup winner this year, be sure to check out the upcoming Toorak Handicap (1600m) and Yalumba Stakes (2000m) to be held this Saturday, October 9 at Caulfield. The top runners in these races will most likely go on to do well in the 2010 Caulfield Cup.

#2: The Second Of Our Caulfield Cup Tips Is To Take Advantage Of Exotic Bets.

While betting on the favourite is a decent strategy, it isn’t always the best if you’re looking to make more money. Try an exotic bet such as a Caulfield Cup exacta, quinella, trifecta, or first four. These types of Caulfield Cup exotics allow you to choose the first two to four horses to cross the finish line.

These exotics can be a little harder to predict, which is why they offer more generous odds. If you do your research (Caulfield Cup tips #1) then you stand a chance to bring in some pretty lucrative payouts. When considering your 2010 Caulfield Cup bets, why not put down a box trifecta on Precedence to win with Metal benderDariana, and Shocking to place. Or, place an exacta on Precedence and Herculian Prince to finish in first and second place.

#3: The Third, And Last, Of Our Caulfield Cup Tips Is To Sign Up For An Online Betting Site.

Caulfield Cup Odds 2010

The Caulfield Cup odds for 2010 are out, with pre-barrier draw favourites now priced much longer due to the emergencies having drawn very well before gates were chosen for most of the major contenders.

Top of the odds at Ladbrokes.com.au is Metal Bender at $6.00 to win. Starting from barrier 2, Metal Bender has had a decent season, with places in most of the races he has run. Second top weight of 56kg is a bit of a concern, but the advantageous barrier draw should take care of that.

Close behind in the odds is Shocking, starting from barrier 12 with $6.50 odds. A wide barrier has rarely been a problem for this horse, and he could be in with a real chance. Expect shortened Melbourne Cup odds on Shocking if he takes the Caulfield Cup.

Herculian Prince is a favourite amongst many canny bettors, priced at $7.50. A barrier 6 start and a win in The Metropolitan bode well for this gelding, though his fifth place Colin Stephen Quality finish has made some hesitant.

Find The Best Caulfield Cup Odds In 2011!

The burning question for everyone is always the same every year, where can I find the best Caulfield Cup odds?

So often the joy of winning can be soured slightly with the realisation the odds you had were vastly inferior to the odds you could have picked up elsewhere.

Well it’s for that exact reason that online bookmaker Luxbet was born.

The Tabcorp owned company has odds which are guaranteed to be better than all three TOTE’s.

So no more complaining that NSW has a better deal or saying ‘if only’ I was in Queensland, the fact is the best odds are available for everyone across the country with ease at Luxbet.

The Caulfield Cup can be a particularly lucrative one for the astute punter with betting markets always showing a great range of value on both the favourites and roughies deeper in the market.

This is for a range of reasons, not least of which being the sheer talent in the race.

Australian Group 1’s are always competitive but the Caulfield Cup is one of those races in its own special league.

It sits with the likes of the Melbourne Cup, Cox Plate and Golden Slipper, races where only the very best can so much as enter, let alone win.

This is compounded with the amount of overseas interest in the race every year.

The kiwi’s flood across the ditch for their chance and with strong staying blood in their breeding ranks they usually perform well.

It’s the same story for the Europeans who are well known for their premiere staying blood.

They really fancy themselves in our longer distance races and their presence in the Caulfield Cup always makes the spectacle even more enthralling.

Bookies often have a hard time lining up the form from these runners with horses using a huge range of different lead in runs.

This gives you the opportunity to spot something the bookies might miss and lets you keep up a good chance at well over the odds.

Not every horse can be a favourite so the odds are their if you’re willing to do your homework.

In the end though what does this all mean for you? Well it simply means start looking now.

Early Caulfield Cup nominations will be known very soon so why not follow a few now and chart the progress leading into October.

You may be surprised to find them at great odds when the final fields are released and that puts you in a far better position to make an accurate call.

While the 2011 Caulfield Cup itself is still a while off that doesn’t mean you can’t start to get ready with an account at Luxbet.

All you need to do is create a new account using the code BONUSBET and you’ll get a free bet equal to your first deposit.

This can be worth up to $400 so there’s never been a better time to get yourself on board with Australia’s fastest growing bookmaker today!

2011 Caulfield Cup Betting Points To A Win For Lucas Or Speed

The rise and rise of December Draw, the 2011 $2.5m Caulfield Cup (2400m) favourite, gets the chance to lift again if you believe Caulfield Cup betting.

While Lucas Cranach, the 2011 Caulfield Cup second favourite was turned in half a point from $7.50 to $7, December Draw remained solid favourite at $2.30 with Luxbet.

From a winter handicap in May  to the Caulfield Cup six months later – the rise has included five wins from six starts.

It seems no unpredictable factor is plaguing the Mark Kavanagh trained galloper though some have doubt he will run the 2400m of the Caulfield Cup of 2011 right out.

Kavanagh is not only training him for the Caulfield Cup of 2011  but also the Melbourne Cup of 3200m, such is the confidence of the ex-South Australian jumps jockey who is now a leading trainer in Melbourne.

“I can’t fault him, he has improved at each run and has improved leaps and bounds since winning the Turnbull Stakes,” Kavanagh said.

“He showed in the Turnbull he can respond in a scrap and I believe he will run 2400m.”

Beside Lucas Cranach, only two other horses shortened in the betting today with Luxbet – Southern Speed form $ 21 to $16 and Tullamore from $51 to $26.

Trainer Leon Macdonald is very happy with the draw (barrier four) and the shape of Southern Speed.

While both his mare and December Draw have not ventured beyond 2000m, Macdonald believes his mare will run it right out.

By Southern Image from Golden Eagle, the dam is by Zabeel a major staying influence in Australasia  for years.

Both gallopers drew perfectly next to each other in the Caulfield Cup of 2011.

While the Gai Waterhouse trained Tullamore drew wide in barrier 15, the specking was based on pure weight of money for the Caulfield Cup.

Waterhouse is aiming for her second Caulfield Cup winner in successive years after Descarado’s Caulfield Cup win in 2010.

While Peter Moody takes all before him, the Caulfield Cup has been a stumbling block to date in his stellar career having not had a placegetter.

He record is unlikely to change with bolter Macedonian a drifter with luxbet from $101 to $151.

Those thinking of opening an account to get  into the action should take up theLuxbet Bonus Bet offer. Initial deposits during the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival from $25 to $500 will be matched but Luxbet – If you start an account with $500 you and get an extra $500 free– not bad is it.

December Draw The Caulfield Cup Winner Says Experts

Highly respected form annalyst Dominic Beirne believes the 2011 $2,5m Group 1 Caulfield Cup winner on weights will be Caulfield Cup favourite December Draw.

While bookmakers around Australia have December Draw drifting, it is a case where they probably had him too short in the first place due to ante post betting pressures.

Beirne, a former bookmaker, believes punters should get on 2011 Caulfield Cup favourite regardless.

“The handicaps for the Caulfield Cup were issued six weeks ago and RVL [Racing Victoria] handicapper Greg Carpenter has told me that if the weights were re-calibrated now, December Draw would be the topweight with 2.5kg more than he will carry tomorrow,” Beirne said on Friday.

“The rule of thumb states that a horse loses a length for every two pounds [0.907184 kg] added over a 2400 metre journey. Therefore on weights alone, December Draw should win by three-lengths.”

Paul Vincent from Luxbet is right behind the Beirne view.

“December Draw is the obvious one with great form, good barrier and the stable is flying,” Vincent said.

Vincent is declaring December Draw and siding with its trainer Mark Kavanagh on the distance debate.

“The distance is no concern for mine and he’ll win,” Vincent said.

“He’s very well weighted and his ability to race handy has him clear top pick.

The good barrier draw, light weight and good form of Southern Speed have made her a market mover’s darling for the 2011 Caulfield Cup.

Her co-trainer Leon Macdonald goes into the race confident and with the belief Southern Speed will run the 2400m of the 2011 Caulfield Cup right out.

“She should get a very good run from there (barrier 3), you have to say she is a genuine chance,” he said.

“I don’t think we have a problem with the 2400m, in fact I think she is well suited by the 2400m.

“Obviously December Draw is very hard to beat, the measuring stick – I don’t know if he will stay.

“He has the best form going into the race but he had to pull out all the stops to beat off Glass Harmonium the other day (in the Turnbull) and  I think it was a gut buster for him.”

Southern Speed, $26 earlier in the week, is into $14 with Luxbet after touching $12.

Sportsbets Haydn Lane says beside that mare, money has come for Manighar.

“The big movers in the market are Southern Speed and Manighar who drew perfectly in gates four and five,” Lane said.

As well as Manighar, Luca Cumani’s other entrant Drunken Sailor has had backing at long odds.

Manighar from $31 to $18 and Drunken Sailor from $26 to $19 with Luxbet for the 2011 Caulfield Cup.

Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said the two best backed runners had been

Mighty High and Southern Speed with his firm
